Manalapan Township

In 1778, the historic Battle of Monmouth took place in Manalapan Township . Formerly, part of Freehold Township , in 1848 it was established as an independent township.  Today, Manalapan Township is the home to many landmarks dating back to the 1700's, which allow the township to maintain a historical feel. The battlefield is now a state park with many historical events that occur throughout the year. Agriculture continues to take up a significant portion of the township, residential and commercial development has been growing steadily in recent years.  Offering many modern conveniences such as a great variety of stores, major highways for easy commutes, a good school system, a first class library system, and growing housing developments make Manalapan Township a desirable town for family living.

Manalapan Township is 30.85 square miles with a population of approximately 33,423. Known for their top-rated schools, the township consists of 5 elementary, 1 middle and I high school that offers community theater activities. Manalapan Township is serviced by volunteer fire departments and first aid squads.

Located in Western Monmouth County (bordering Millstone, Freehold, Marlboro & Monroe) in Central New Jersey, Manalapan Township is a great place for commuters traveling to New York City (1 hour), Philadelphia (1 1/4 hour), Atlantic City (1 1/2 hour) or to the Jersey Shore (1/2 hour). Manalapan is served primarily by state routes 33 & 9. It is close to NJ Turnpike exits 8A & 9 and Garden State Parkway exit 123.
