Freehold Township
Freehold Township was established in 1685 as one of the three original townships in Monmouth County. Today, it is a growing suburban community that attracts many families with a good school system, easy commuting, and first rate services such as an award winning Parks & Recreation Department and a great variety of stores.
The parks include 209 acre Liberty Oak Park, 195 acre Durand Park and Turkey Swamp Park, which offers hiking trails, camping, picnic areas, row boating, canoeing and fishing on a 17 acre lake. Freehold Township is also home to the region's largest shopping mall - Freehold Raceway Mall. Yet the township still maintains a historical feeling with landmarks such as Monmouth Battlefield State Park , site of the Battle of Monmouth in 1778, and the 1800's Oakley Farmhouse with collections that chart regional and state history. There are also, sidewalk cafes, historic tours, summer concerts, parades, Kruise Nite, a spectacular community theater, antique shops, farmer's market, retail stores, public parks, the Andrew Carnegie Library and churches.

Freehold Township is a great place for commuters traveling to New York City (1 hour), Philadelphia (1 1/4 hour), Atlantic City .(1 1/2 hour) or to the Jersey Shore (1/2 hour). The township is served by routes 9, 33, 79, 524 & 537. It is close to NJ Turnpike exits 8A & 9 and Garden State Parkway exit 123.
